A large-scale installation comprising multiple electrical features are planned for the Turner Contemporary art gallery.
The extensive upgrade, which involves both security and energy-saving aspects, will see the gallery based in Margate, Kent closed for five months.
New upgraded security features are set to be fitted on site. Automatic, electric powered doors will be installed for securer entry at both the front of the gallery and within. An updated system of closed-circuit television (CCTV) will replace the existing set up with cutting-edge capabilities to monitor the safety of both the property, its contents and the public who visit. The new CCTV system will also benefit from external storage.
The gallery revamp will see an update to its broadband services and all new audio-visual equipment will be introduced. In order to reduce its running costs, a LED lighting installation will be fitted throughout the premises. LED lighting can offer a far more cost-efficient lighting solution than more traditionally used systems using incandescent or fluorescent bulbs.
Other upgrades for the building include new signage, toilet facilities and the fitting of a finishing kitchen to help cater for gallery events.
The massive undertaking that represents a £2m investment will begin when the gallery closes on September 7, 2020 and are expected to complete by January 2021 to coincide with the Turner Contemporary’s 10th year anniversary.
Regardless of how large or small the project, businesses requiring the assistance of commercial electrical contractors in Chester, Kent and other parts of the UK should only enlist certified professionals to complete the work.
