Following a recent refurbishment at its warehouse, Clipper Logistics has opted for an innovative lighting solution to suit its new requirements.
The company currently operates 46 sites, a 300-vehicle strong fleet and uses a total warehouse space covering 10 million square feet to serve its growing retail customer base.
The new installation needed more than 1,000 luminaries to provide adequate lighting for Clipper’s warehouse situated at the M1 Junction 15 in Northampton. Requirements for the facility included a lighting system that was more energy efficient and one that offered greater control. The logistics firm wanted to be able to switch each lighting batten on or off individually, rather than an entire row at once.
Whether in Northampton and Chester, electrical installations like upgraded lighting systems should not go ahead without consulting experienced electrical contractors first. Certified industrial electricians can carry out power audits at warehouses and factories, allowing companies to see the potential savings of energy efficient options – savings that can offset costs of a new installation.
The original lighting set-up employed by the warehouse was both costly and time consuming to service and run. The new installation employs a variety of energy-saving features including more environmentally friendly LED lighting and a smart system that can be pre-programmed to avoid energy waste. The emergency lighting system is also designed to be more effective and save costs through a range of features including self-testing and the capability to dim emergency signage by 60% while still offering optimal visibility.
