Haven Bridge in Norfolk’s Great Yarmouth is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment of its electrical parts and systems. A new advisory from Norfolk County Council has stated that the extensive project will possibly continue on into the autumn.
From local councils to enterprises and organisations, those planning electrical installations in Chester, Norfolk and other areas around the UK should only use certified contractors to complete their projects. Qualified electricians have the necessary experience and skills to ensure all equipment will operate safely and at optimum performance.
The complex nature of the work, which represents a £2 million investment, began in February to provide the 91-year-old bridge with a much-needed overhaul. The extensive project has already seen the venerable electrical system and motors removed, and replacement parts are due to be installed in the months to follow.
Additionally, comprehensive asbestos surveys were undertaken, with all traces of the material competently removed. The next phase of the project will see safety enhancements added to the bridge, including areas that are used by its engineers for operation and maintenance.
Several of the reusable mechanical components of the bridge were removed in June and are now undergoing a rigorous restoration.
According to Eastern Daily Press, Cabinet Member for Transport, Martin Wilby, commented on the project:
“This major upgrade to replace the lifting bridge’s ageing equipment is designed to give Great Yarmouth the reliable bridge that is needed by both residents and businesses.”
Improvements to the Haven Bridge have been possible in part due to a share of the £22 million highway funding allocated to Norfolk by the Department for Transport last year.
