Commuters were warned of disruption to their journeys recently following a fire breaking out at a car repair workshop close to a London railway station.
The fire broke out on premises situated alongside Hackbridge train station, stopping services safely using the station in either direction. Operators Thameslink and Southern Rail confirmed later that while lines were functioning between Mitcham South and Carshalton, any that operated using Hackbridge were still likely to face disruptions and delays.
A total of 80 firefighters and 12 fire engines were called to tackle the blaze that occurred at the car repair workshop located in south-west London. Crews came from Wallington and other fire stations in the area, working together to battle the fire after a call received just after 2:00 am on February 25.
