A factory employing 265 people in Adlington, Lancashire is fully operating once more following a largescale fire at its warehouse.
April 1 saw around eight fire service vehicles and 50 firefighters on site to battle the massive blaze that decimated stores at the Pincroft Factory on Huyton Road.
Despite the serious fire, the printing and dyeing factory operated by Carrington Textiles, which is the UK’s largest workwear fabrics producer, was fully operational just two days later. The quick return to optimum function means the firm can continue its ongoing production of much needed fabrics for both NHS workwear and international healthcare providers.
A spokesperson for Carrington textiles commented:
“The fire was confined to the greige store which is housed in a separate building at the rear of the factory. As a result, we remain fully operational without any damage to the factory or any plant and machinery, meaning that we continue to operate as normal.”
Under UK health and safety legislation, all owners of commercial properties must have adequate fire prevention and detection measures in place. Businesses booking a fire alarm fitter in Chester, Adlington and other places in the North West should ensure they hire a certified electrician to handle the installation to make certain it’s up to code.
Nobody was injured in the blaze, but Lancashire’s Fire and Rescue service advised residents to keep their distance from the area and close their doors and windows to avoid smoke inhalation. Fire crews remained at the site until the warehouse remains were demolished.
