Under the full support of property and business owners in the area, the town of Callington in Cornwall has successfully completed the purchase of a dedicated CCTV system.
Completing the Callington system, the final device required to run the state-of-the-art system has now been bought, thanks to a grant from the Police Crime Commissioner and support from businesses and members of the public.

The new system boasts 31 individual CCTV cameras positioned at different locations around Callington’s town centre, with most built to deliver recordings for cases in court and police investigations requiring evidential support.
Mike Tagg, a Callington councillor, has been overseeing the project, and he commented recently to the Cornish Times that the town now has comprehensive coverage. He added:
“We want to show due care and diligence to all our taxpayers, particularly our elderly residents. The role of the CCTV is in large part as a deterrent, as well as to provide evidential recording, incident monitoring and site management.”
The five-year initiative has seen the town’s local council build up the system slowly but steadily, and during this time, the CCTV cameras have helped prevent crimes being committed and assisted the community to feel protected.
