The Chichester Cathedral in Sussex has upgraded its current CCTV set up to a modern wireless system.
In order to keep a watchful eye on its retail area and deliver additional peace of mind to employees, Chichester Cathedral has enhanced security with four camera CCTV from security systems provider Comelit.
A Grade II listed building, the cathedral has held foundations at the heart of the West Sussex city for more than 900 years. The cathedral has elements both contemporary and ancient and bears architecture unique to each of its nine centuries from medieval through to modern. For such a historic building, any new features added to the site must be considered with due care.
A spokesperson for Chichester Cathedral commented on the new system:
“It has proven to be the perfect solution, with the system proving simple to install. Staff now have access to monitors by the till points that also act as a significant visual deterrent.”
Put in place out of hours for minimum disruption to staff and customers, the cameras were positioned with a clear vantage of the shop floor and tills for secure monitoring.
CCTV Manager for Comelit, Tim Edmonds, commented that based within a significant building like Chichester Cathedral, the retail area shows how such systems can always be used for protection, whatever the environment.
The newly installed system from Comelit will deliver round-the-clock monitoring that benefits from superior image quality via high-resolution. Fully wireless, the set up also offers a non-intrusive appearance to the cathedral’s aesthetic.
