Investigators are now working to determine the source of a blaze that broke out recently at a local business in Evington, Leicester.
The fire was reported at 4:59am last Sunday, March 22, taking place in a two-storey building on Temple Road that housed a gym, a clothing business and warehouse space. Firefighters from both Leicestershire Fire and Rescue’s central and eastern stations joined forced to battle the blaze.
It is the legal responsibility of all business owners to ensure they have adequate systems in place for fire detection and prevention. Enterprises booking a fire alarm fitter in Chester, Leicester and other cities should only use a certified professional to be sure all work carried out is up to code.
A spokeswoman for the fire services commented:
“We had four appliances, in addition to the command support vehicle, in attendance. Crews managed to gain access to the two-storey building, where two firefighters with breathing gear, two hose reel jets and one main jet were used.”
The fire began in the area of the building occupied by Fitness Factory Gym. No members of the public were injured as the property was empty as the incident occurred. By 6:44am the blaze was under control but the extent of building’s structural damage has not been fully established.
The area has now been cordoned off and the police, called to the scene by the Fire and Rescue Services are looking into the fire’s cause. CCTV footage is currently being collected from neighbouring businesses in the vicinity to aid the investigation.
