A new initiative will see the Coroner’s Court for Bradford relocated to the city centre and now project leaders are seeking permission to make alterations on site including an electrical upgrade.
Currently based within the Keighley Magistrates’ Court, the new address for the Coroner’s Court will be at 1 Cater Street, located in Bradford’s Little Germany.
With the new site decided, plans are underway to make certain the building is fit for purpose and modernised to today’s standards. Businesses that need help with electrical services in Chester, Bradford and other major UK cities should call qualified contractors to complete work ensuring it is always up to code.
The planning proposal submitted to Bradford Council requests that the Grade II Listed Cater building is separated from 34 Peckover Street, which at present is considered part of the property. The renovation would open up the option for an electric platform lift to be installed that would operate from basement level to the first floor. Both the buildings electrical systems and heating operations will also be updated if the application is successful.
The Coroner’s Court commented on the additional benefits of the new project:
“Unlike the current facility in the Magistrate’s Court which only has one court dedicated to the coroner, the new facility will encompass three separate courts able to run concurrently. This will help reduce the number of inquests being backlogged.”
The Cater building was constructed in 1862 as warehouse with five floors and office space.
