A recent fire that took place at an industrial unit on Crawford Street in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, saw firefighters on site for two days.
Fire and Rescue Services for Greater Manchester were contacted on Wednesday, November 25 at 5.22pm with reports of a blaze at the Rochdale address. Fire crews and appliances came from a wide range of stations in the area, including Rochdale, Littleborough, Hyde, Chadderton, Heywood, Salford, Stockport and Hollins.
Once onsite, firefighters joined forces in a battle that lasted 19 hours in total, stretching into Thursday.
A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Services commented that the attending firefighters used an extensive selection of equipment in the operation. This included two jet hose reels, an extremely high-pressure lance, multiple safety jets, a nine-metre long ladder, six individual breathing apparatus and a cutting-edge camera capable of supplying thermal imaging.
Fire crews on site warned residents in the nearby area to keep both their doors and windows closed to avoid inhaling any harmful smoke from the fire while it dissipated.
Owners and operators of industrial enterprises like warehouses, factories and processing facilities have a legal obligation to conduct a complete risk assessment for fire safety on their premises. This may result in the necessary installation of fire prevention equipment, such as extinguishers, alarms and detectors.
Firms booking a smoke alarm fitter in Chester, Rochdale and other parts of Northern England can always rely on professional electricians to install devices.
