A recent fire that broke out at an East Devon industrial unit saw fire fighters from three different counties race to the rescue to extinguish a blazing barn.
Multiple fire crews tackle Devon industrial fire
Fire crews from Seaton, Colyton, Axminster, Lyme Regis, Danes Castle, Yeovil, Chard, Sidmouth and Honiton all arrived at the Colyton farm to resolve the incident. Together, they worked to put out the fire by employing two hose reel jets, a ground monitor, two thermal imaging devices, a compressed air jet and a gas monitor, along with a 45mm jet.
According to East Devon News, a spokesperson for Axminster Fire Station commented on the recent incident:
“Once in attendance crews requested a water carrier which attended from Yeovil Fire Station, shortly after this another assistance message was sent for make pumps six – these further two appliances coming from Chard Fire Station and Sidmouth Fire Station.”
From commercial companies to industrial enterprises, owners of shops and sites are responsible for completing fire safety risk assessments. After such an audit occurs, it is often necessary for fire prevention and detection equipment to be put in place. Large sites requiring a fire alarm installation in Chester, Devon and other UK areas must only use professionals to carry out work. Unlike home alarm systems, enterprise-grade options are more complex and need qualified electricians to fit them to ensure they can be depended on in an emergency.
The fire service has since commented that the blaze within the barn workshop was believed to be accidental.
