A mill building in Saltaire, West Yorkshire with World Heritage Site status could see a selection of new security features following a recent proposal.
New Mill on Victoria Road is the home of the Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, which seeks to bolster security at the location following the building’s dedicated car park being regularly subjected to trespassers.
At the beginning of the year, submitted plans were approved to fit railings, thereby boosting security of the wall that divides the car park from the nearby River Aire. The trust is now applying for permission to improve site safety further with automatic bollards and CCTV cameras to prevent unauthorised access to the car parking area.
Enterprises and organisations planning a security system installation in Chester, Saltaire and other parts of the UK can count on qualified electricians to fit equipment correctly.
If approval is granted, a rising bollard will be fitted at both the exit and entrance of the car park, painted in Saltire’s traditional green to match furniture and fittings employed currently at the heritage site.
The application commented on the misuse of the facility both in and out of operating hours, stating:
“This is a great safety concern to the building owner and for staff who are concerned about potential car damage. As a result, the proposal also includes the installation of CCTV.”
Where possible, CCTV devices will be affixed to lampposts and the building itself, while the bollards will not be a permanent fixture to avoid spoiling the site’s integrity.
